Freedom Alliance hosting white water rafting for injured service members

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A dozen injured service members from the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Hospital in Richmond is white water rafting Thursday on the James River.

The Freedom Alliance is hosting the annual adventure, beginning 9 a.m. and starting at the Riverside Outfitters on Old Westham Road.

The event includes navigating the rapids of the James, lunch on one of the river islands, and an up close and personal view of the spectacular sights as the veterans take in the surrounding wildlife.

The Freedom Alliance says the white water trip will give the group of injured service members a reprieve from the medical surroundings they are used to, a fun-filled experience, and aid in their recovery efforts.
