Attempted robbery on VCU campus

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — An attempted robbery was reported early Saturday morning at Boyd and W. Franklin Streets on the VCU campus.

VCU and Richmond Police say the victim was approached by the suspects who displayed handguns, demanding the victim’s money and cellphone.

The victim advised the suspects that he had no money and fled from the suspects.

VCU and Richmond Police have increased patrols in the area and the incident is being investigated by the Richmond Police Department.

Both suspects are described as black males in their early 20’s, 5′ 8″-5′ 11,” weighing 160 lbs., and wearing dark clothing.

The suspect’s last direction of travel is unknown.

The VCU Police would like to remind students, in particular, to keep personal safety in mind. The best defense is to be prepared and to take responsibility for your own safety and for that of your friends and fellow students.
