Dog dies in Richmond house fire

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) —  A dog was killed after a home in Richmond went up in flames Monday afternoon.

Crews responded to a call that came in just before 4 p.m.  When they arrived at 1409 Bowen Street, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from every window of the two-story home.

Officials say the residents were not home, although one dog was unable to be rescued from the blaze.

The fire was marked under control at roughly 4:30 p.m. Officials say the home was a ‘complete loss.’
