Police identify Petersburg man killed in drive-by shooting

PETERSBURG, VA. (WRIC) — On Sunday, Police released the name of the victim of the drive-by shooting in Petersburg.

Police identify the man as 24-year-old Rashawn Mays, from Petersburg.

Officers responded to a call that came in around 9:30 a.m. Saturday for a person shot on the 100 block of Shore Street.

Authorities say the victim was possibly shot by a bullet from another vehicle while he was driving down Shore Street.

The victim was taken to Southside Regional Medical Center for treatment but then transfer to VCU Medical Center. Police are now seeking a homicide suspect.
