Principal of Central High School in King and Queen County resigns

KING AND QUEEN COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The principal of Central High School in King and Queen County has resigned.

King and Queen County Division Superintendent Carol B. Carter released a statement saying former principal Antione Monroe is leaving to pursue other opportunities.

The King and Queen School Board has accepted the resignation of Antione Monroe as Principal of King and Queen County High School. Mr. Monroe is leaving to pursue other professional opportunities. He appreciates the opportunities he has had in King and Queen County, and his relationships with the students. King and Queen County School Board wishes him the best in his future endeavors. As in all personnel matters, we are not permitted to discuss the particulars as a matter of state law.”

Meanwhile, King and Queen County Schools are closed Friday.

On Monday, students were protesting after Monroe was placed on administrative leave. An investigating is underway.

It’s not clear if the two events are related or not.
