CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — All this week, Good Morning Richmond is sharing stories of the children having their dreams made into reality thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Today, we meet a little boy and huge wrestling fan, Charlie Fuller. Or, if you prefer his wrestling name, you can call him “The Diamond.”
Charlie wanted to meet his hero, whose strength inspired him to fight a disease that he has never let pin him down.
“Charlie has Hemophilia B, which is a bleeding disorder,” said Charlie’s mom, Kelly Fuller.
The condition has made 11-year-old Charlie’s life difficult.
“I went to get surgery and then this happened, and then that happened… So I had a port and they had to put a new one in there and it got infected,” Charlie said. “I felt miserable.”
Charlie has watched his favorite wrestlers as an escape. So when the Make-A-Wish Foundation gifted Charlie a trip to meet one of his favorite wrestlers, it was a wish that came true for the entire family.
“In the limo ride he was just like speechless,” said Andrew Fuller, Charlie’s brother. “He was just like, ‘I can’t believe this is happening.'”
“It felt great not being in the hospital,” Charlie said. “It was awesome meeting him, and it was just nice and being right there at the wrestling event.”
Tune into GMR every morning through May 6 to meet more children having their dreams come true thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
