Hatfield sets scoring record as Richmond blasts High Point, 17-6

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond Spiders men’s lacrosse team made it clear they were the best team to go to the SOCON championship game on Saturday with a dominant 17-6 win over rival High Point on Thursday night.

Led by freshman attackmen Teddy Hatfield, who set a new school single game scoring record with six goals, the Spiders took the lead 2-1 with 5:21 left in the opening quarter and never looked back.

The Spiders entered halftime up 8-3, adding seven more goals to the final tally in the second half of play.

Richmond will face the top seed of the SOCON tournament, Air Force (defeated Bellarmine 10-8 Thursday), on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. at Robins Stadium
