ASHBURN, Va. (WRIC) — The Washington Redskins introduced free agent defensive back Josh Norman Monday. Norman signed a five-year contract worth $75 million last week. Norman was an All-Pro defensive back with the Carolina Panthers prior to coming to Washington.
Last week, the defending NFC Champion Panthers rescinded the franchise tag from Norman, who would’ve made about $14 million in one season under the label. Now Norman will make no less than $36.5 million in the next two seasons.
Norman said he was “shell shocked” when he heard the news of the Panthers’ decision and that he spent a lot of time just staring at the wall in his hotel room, unsure how to proceed. Eventually, Norman said his agent let him know there was plenty of interest around the league and that the Redskins were one of those interested teams. Now Norman says he can’t wait to continue reaching his potential in Washington.
