Redskins’ GM McCloughan discusses NFL Draft goals

ASHBURN, Va. (WRIC) — The Washington Redskins will pick 21st in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, which begins Thursday. Redskins’ General Manager Scot McCloughan said he will focus on team fit over attributes and that he is interested in making trades for more draft picks, as he did during the 2015 NFL Draft.

In 2015, Washington picked offensive lineman Brandon Scherff fifth overall. Scherff started at right guard for most of his rookie season.

McCloughan was vague when it came to details on who he might draft or how he might try to trade for more picks, but he said he is committed to building the team through the draft despite the major free agent signing of Josh Norman.
