1 arrested, 2 remain at large following shooting incident in Colonial Heights

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WRIC) — The Colonial Heights Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating two suspects wanted in connection to a shooting incident last week.

Last Tuesday, April 19, police say they responded to the 100 block of Clearfield Circle in reference to shots fired in the area. When officers arrived, they learned shots were fired after an altercation took place between several subjects in a parking lot. All of the subjects fled before police arrived.

Police were able to identify all parties involved. One of them, Lavert Cox of Petersburg, was apprehended a short time later. He was charged with shooting into an occupied building and discharging a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school. Is being held without bond at Riverside Regional Jail.

The other two wanted suspects, 19-year-old Darias Leake and 23-year-old Wesley Cox, both of Petersburg, remain at large.

Leake is wanted for two counts of assault and battery and destruction of property.  Cox is wanted for shooting into an occupied dwelling, discharging a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
