RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Today kids and parents come out for the Super-Hero Heart Run at Bryan Park.
The 2k and 5k run/ walk was held to raise money and awareness for congenital heart defects.
The event was hosted by our own Christina Feerick.
Organizers say it is the number one birth defect, affecting over 40.000 kids every year.
Kristine Slovis, Super Hero Run co-chair, say she is so happy they were able to have the event in Richmond.
“Heart heroes started the super-hero heart run out in the midwest, they’re based out ofNebraskaa probably three to four years ago, and it just meant the world to me to bring it to the east coast and to the Richmond area so we could raise more awareness,” Slovis said.
About 350 people came out to support the cause.
Slovis says they exceeded their goal of $20,000.
