‘It’s amazing:’ Middle school performers meet ‘Lion King’ professional

MIDLOTHIAN, Va. (WRIC) — A group of young performers had a special guest at their dress rehearsal Wednesday night.

The cast of Midlothian Middle School’s Lion King Jr. got to meet the actor who plays “Timon” in the Broadway tour.

The show’s director helped set up the visit since the tour recently arrived in Richmond for performances.

The kids said it was an amazing experience to get to meet someone who does theatre professionally.

“Just to be able to be in the presence of a professional to give all the advice that I could possibly need, it’s just amazing,” said 8th grader Brooke Ward.

Nick Cordileone, who plays Timon on the Broadway tour, said it’s exciting to see performers at this young age.

“When you get to see people who are like ‘yeah this is maybe what I want to do for a living’ or even if it’s just for right now,” said Cordileone. “To get to see that snapshot is awesome.”

Midlothian middle school will be performing Lion King Jr. April 21st and 22nd at 7 p.m. and on Saturday April 23rd at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
