HENRICO, Va. (WRIC) — 8News is once again taking the lead this year for Alzheimer’s awareness.

Today 8News Anchor Amy Lacey attended this morning’s Reason to Hope breakfast.

People living with the disease, their caregivers and advocates shared their experiences and raised money for research and support programs.

By 2020, an estimated 150,000 people in Virginia will be diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. Nearly one in every three seniors who dies each year has Alzheimer’s or another dementia.

This year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s is November 5. Early registration is encouraged. Find more information and sign up for the event here.
