Chesterfield Police ask for help to identify man after remains found along river bank

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Chesterfield County Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man whose remains were found last month.

On March 13, a man fishing near the area of the 1300 block of Bellwood Road called police after he discovered a body along the bank of the James River.

Chesterfield County Fire and EMS personnel assisted with the recovery.

With the help of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the Virginia Department of Forensic Science, police are still working to determine the man’s identity and cause of death.

At this point in the investigation, authorities say the man’s race has not been determined. At the time his body was recovered, he was wearing a black Nike T-shirt, size XL, Pro Player track pants, size L, a fleece jacket, one size fits all (see photos above), plaid boxer shorts, unknown size and two black socks.
