RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Fireworks on the James won’t be happening on July 3, 2016 anymore.

Two main sponsors of the event, WestRock and Dominion Virginia Power, decided not to back the event this year, so the show will not go on.

Venture Richmond, who hosted the event with the support of sponsors and the City of Richmond, confirmed that the fireworks show won’t be happening this year.

2016 would have made the fifth consecutive year for the fireworks show.
