Nearly 30,000 registered to participate in the Monument Avenue 10K

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Almost 30,000 walkers and runners are registered to participate in the 17th annual Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k presented by MARTIN’S.

The race is set to take place Saturday, April 9.

Over the years, this event has grown to be one of the nation’s largest 10K races, as well as one of the largest running races of any distance.

The Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10K will again serve as the Collegiate Running Association 10K Road Race National Championship. Several thousand collegiate runners will be participating in the race.

Walk-up registration for the Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10K and Virginia529 Kids Run is available at the Anthem Health and Fitness Expo on Thursday, April 7 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday, April 8 from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Arthur Ashe Center.

Thursday, April 7

3 p.m. – 9 p.m. Anthem Health & Fitness Expo/Packet Pick-Up at the Arthur Ashe Center

Friday, April 8

11 a.m. – 9 p.m. Anthem Health & Fitness Expo/Packet Pick-Up at the Arthur Ashe Center

7:35 p.m. Home Run Weekend: Richmond Flying Squirrels vs. Hartford Yard Goats – FREE General Admission ticket for all 10K and Kids Run participants (show race bib at ticket booth to redeem)

Saturday, April 9                             

6 a.m. – 2 p.m. Race Day Shuttle Service (Advance ticket required)

6:45 – 9:30 a.m. Times-Dispatch Dress Up & Run Contest check-in at Monroe Park

7 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Bike Valet service available in Monroe Park across from Cathedral of the Sacred Heart

7:30 a.m. Blessing of the Runners at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart

9:00 a.m. – 1 p.m. SUBWAY Post Race Festival at Monroe Park

10:00 a.m. Awards Ceremony on main stage in Monroe Park

2:05 p.m. Home Run Weekend: Richmond Flying Squirrels vs. Hartford Yard Goats – 10k and Kids Run

  • Participants show Finisher’s Medal for free General Admission ticket and pre-game parade at 1:35 p.m.
