RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — United Airlines launched its first-ever daily, non-stop service between Richmond International Airport and Denver International Airport on Tuesday.
More than 60,000 people travel between Richmond and Denver every year. According to a study, Denver ranks as the 11th most popular destination among travelers in the Richmond Region.
Now, those travelers will have much easier access back-and-forth.
“United’s new daily service to Denver provides our customers from throughout Virginia’s Capital Region with convenient access to another major economic center and home to one of our largest hub airports,” said Kellie Clough, United’s sales manager in Richmond. “We are committed to making United the airline of choice for customers traveling to Denver and beyond.”
Back in January, RIC spokesman Troy Bell said, “there’s been a long demand for better access to the west.”
The flight will be three hours each way. At 1,482 miles, the new route is the longest and most westerly flight originating from RIC.
Just like any other flight, the cost for a ticket will vary depending on time and when you book, but it will save you time by skipping the headache of layovers.
“The growth of the region is dependent upon our ability to transport people in and out of the area in an efficient and economical fashion,” said Virginia Secretary of Commerce and Trade Maurice Jones. “United’s nonstop flight between Richmond and Denver will enable visitors, business executives and other talent to go back and forth between two great American cities, benefiting the economy in both areas.”
