HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Crews are investigating after a hotel in Hanover County caught fire Thursday evening.
At 6:25 p.m., Hanover Fire-EMS crews were dispatched to the La QuinTa Inn at 16280 International Street in Doswell for a reported fire alarm. When crews arrived, they found the hotel had been partially evacuated with smoke coming from it.
Crews quickly identified an active fire in the exterior wall of a mechanical room on the first floor. They say smoke had filled the first and second floors while the fire extended through one of the exterior walls.
While searching the building for occupants, crews simultaneously attacked the fire and brought it under control in roughly an hour.
No one was injured, although 80 occupants were displaced.
The fire remains under investigation by the Hanover Fire Marshal’s Office.
