Suspect on the run after pursuit, crash in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Virginia State Police along with Chesterfield County Police are on the hunt for a suspect who was involved in a high speed chase Monday night.

On Monday at 9:56 p.m., state police attempted to stop a silver Ford Fusion for reckless driving. The driver was doing more than 80 mph in a 55 mph zone on Route 150 southbound at Strathmore.

The vehicle did not stop even though the trooper’s emergency equipment was activated.

The vehicle eluded the trooper and was later reported to have crashed at Mason Crest Drive and Beulah Road in Chesterfield County.

After the vehicle crashed, two subjects fled on foot. One suspect, who was identified by police as Jayvonte Tre’mon Taylor of Richmond, was taken into custody in the 4600 block of Mason Crest Drive.

Taylor has been charged with resisting arrest, possession of schedule one or two drug and possession of marijuana.  More charges are pending, police said.

Taylor was transported to the Chesterfield County Jail.

Chesterfield County Police and State Police are still searching for the second suspect.
