Henrico man charged with killing parents on Easter Sunday

HENRICO, Va. (WRIC)–A Glen Allen man is charged with killing his parents on Easter Sunday.

Henrico Police say 22-year-old Roy Brissette called 9-1-1 on Sunday night to report someone had broken into his family’s home and killed his Mom and Dad.

But investigators believe Roy is the one who pulled the trigger and shot the couple.

Henry and Martha Brissette had been married for thirty-five years.

Neighbors tell 8News the couple had lived in their home on Forge Road for at least half of that time.

David Cooke, neighbor, could not believe what happened.

“This is like a huge shock, like an earthquake for Forge Road to know that this couple is no longer with us,” Cooke said.

Charlie Barron lived right next door to the Brissettes.

“It was sad to hear. Shocking,” Barron said.

Neighbors say the Brissettes were quiet but friendly.

They never had any trouble with the 59-year-old husband and 56-year-old wife.

Their son, however, had a history.

Court records show Roy faced drug and stalking charges back in 2013, but nothing that suggested he might be capable of killing his own flesh and blood.

Those same court documents also show that at one point, Roy was being treated by Henrico County Mental Health Services.

Roy himself created a crowdfunding page in January in an effort to raise $25,000 so he could get stem cell treatment to “rebuild his brain.”

“We don’t know what the issues were with him, but you would never assume that they would die at the hands of their own child,”
says Cooke.

Roy Brissette faces two charges of second degree murder and using a firearm to commit a felony. He is in the Henrico County Jail with no bond.

His next court hearing is on June 3rd.
