RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Police have identified a woman found shot to death in Richmond early Monday morning.
Authorities say that around 2:08 a.m., officers were called to the 3900 block of Larchmont Lane, near Midlothian Village, for a report of random gunfire. When police arrived a minute later, they were unable to find any victims or determine the exact location of the shooting. Minutes later, they received a call for help at the Circle Shopping Center on Hull Street. In the parking lot, officers found two shooting victims inside a car.
One victim, 25-year-old Chantel Norville, of Henrico County, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim, a male in his 20s, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives determined that both victims were shot in the 3900 block of Larchmont Lane before they drove to the Circle Shopping Center, where they called for help.
Willie Davis, who lives across the street from where the shooting happened, said he heard 12 shots fired.
“You hear shootings all the time, but that close and then you have family in the house and you don’t know if a stray bullet is going to hit the house or anything,” Davis said. “It was really scary.”
Davis also said it sounded as if there were two separate guns exchanging fire.
Police say this is an ongoing investigation.
