Henrico police officer charged in December shooting to appear in court

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Henrico Police officer charged in connection to a December shooting is due in court Monday.

Joel D. Greenway faces charges of malicious wounding, shooting into an occupied vehicle and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

On December 15, 2015, Officer Greenway approached a suspicious vehicle at gas station on Nine Mile Road around 10:30 p.m. When Officer Greenway got close, the car drove off and hit him, authorities said. Officer Greenway then fired shots into the car and hit a female passenger.

Greenway’s hearing is set for 10 a.m. today.
