8News visits “Baby Buns” before doctors begin to wean him off breathing machine

DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Kaleb “Baby Buns” Graves is continuing to make progress.

His family is asking for prayers because on Thursday, doctors are going to begin to wean him off of one of the two machines he uses for breathing support. It’s a big step in hopefully helping this little guy go home.

Kaleb was born 17 weeks early and weighed just 13 ounces. He now weighs in at six pounds, 12 ounces.

Kaleb’s parents captured the country’s attention after a video of the Dinwiddie couple’s pregnancy announcement went viral. Kaleb was born four months early at VCU Medical Center because he was putting his mother’s health at risk. He has continued to recover at the hospital for several months.

A GoFundMe account has been established to help the Graves family with medical expenses.
