CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Police have arrested and charged a suspect in connection to threatening emails sent to Matoaca High School earlier this month.
On Monday, March 7, and Tuesday, March 8, administrators at Matoaca High received anonymous emails that contained threats directed at the school. School resource officers, along with Chesterfield County Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, Virginia State Police, the FBI and school officials worked together to identify the source of the threatening messages.
An investigation revealed that a 15-year-old male student at Matoaca High School had sent the threatening messages, police say. The suspect was arrested and charged with two counts of threats of death or bodily harm to persons on school property on Monday.
The suspect is currently being held at the Chesterfield County Juvenile Detention Home.
