RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Astronomers will be observing a twin comet flyby that starts tonight.
NASA says these two comets could be interplanetary twins. That means the smaller one may be a fragment that broke off the bigger one.
The smaller comet was discovered two months ago.
Its larger twin will pass near earth tonight, with the smaller comet following suit Tuesday night.
Both comets will be a safe two million miles away, but the event will be the third closest comet flyby in recorded history.
