Oklahoma City homecoming for VCU’s Billbury

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (WRIC) — Oklahoma City is very far away for most VCU Rams fans, but this trip is a homecoming for graduate transfer Korey Billbury.

Billbury played his high school basketball in Tulsa, which is about 100 miles northeast of Oklahoma City. His father and brothers currently live in OKC, and Billbury’s father James was in attendance Thursday at VCU’s open practice.

Billbury is thrilled just to be playing in the first NCAA Tournament game of his career, and he considers it a special blessing to be able to do so in front of friends and family.

8Sports Director Mitch Carr is in Oklahoma City and will be following the Rams during their run in the West Region of the NCAA Tournament. Follow him on Twitter and look for highlights and reaction from Friday’s game on 8News at 6 and 11.

HAVOC Haven will also live blog the game here in Richmond.
