HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) — Crews battled a two-alarm fire at the Honeywell manufacturing plant in Chester Friday night.
The plant, located at 4101 Bermuda Hundred Road in Chester, specializes in the production of nylon polymer used in carpet fibers, plastics and films.
Peter Dalpe, Director of External Communications for Honeywell Performance Materials and Technologies, said the fire occurred in one of the plant’s production areas at approximately 9 p.m.
“Honeywell’s Chesterfield plant experienced a fire in one of its production areas around 9 p.m. Friday. There were no reported injuries or reported offsite impacts from the incident at this time,” Dalpe said in a release to 8News. “The fire was extinguished by the facility’s fire brigade, aided by local firefighters who responded to the plant.
“The cause of the fire in under investigation and the operations in the affected area have been suspended.”
