1 injured in Richmond apartment fire

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) —  A woman was hospitalized with smoke inhalation and burns after a fire broke out in her apartment building Thursday evening.

Fire crews say responded to a call at 2618 Idlewood Avenue at around 6:30 p.m Thursday.

A neighbor who lives in the building said called 911 after she heard a loud noise and her apartment began to fill up with smoke. We are told the tenant who was hospitalized was the only person injured. The extent of her injuries is unknown at this time.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
