Police arrest man involved in Mandalay Drive shootings

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond Police arrested a man involved in a shooting on the city’s south side early Wednesday morning.

At approximately 12:53 a.m., police were called to the 2200 block of Mandalay Drive for a report of a person shot. They located a man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Minutes later, at approximately 1:04 a.m., a second call was received about an injured person in the parking lot of McGuire VA Medical Center, 1200 Broad Rock Blvd. Officers responded and located a man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

After speaking with several witnesses, police determined both men were shot in the 2200 block of Mandalay Drive.

Aaran M. Capek, 25, of the 500 block of W. Grace Street was arrested and charged with attempted murder and use of firearm during the commission of a felony.
