No injuries after school bus crash in Louisa County

LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Virginia State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash involving a school bus in Louisa County Monday morning.

Authorities said the crash happened around 7:30 a.m. around Fredericks Hall Road just east of Rising Sun Road.

According to police, a Louisa County school bus was stopped in a curve with lights activated picking up a student when a 1994 GMC dump truck (which was not loaded with anything) came around the curve and did not see the bus lights due to glare from the sun, police said. The dump truck driver went sideways and struck the bus at an angle, causing minor damage to the bus.

The bus had about 20 students on board as well as the driver. No one was transported from the scene by ambulance.

The driver of the 1994 GMC dump truck, 65-year-old Elijah C. Minor, Jr. of Louisa County, was charged with following too close.
