Henrico police officer indicted in connection to December shooting

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A police officer has been indicted on multiple charges in connection to a shooting.

Joel D. Greenway is facing charges of malicious wounding, shooting into an occupied vehicle and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

Henrico police confirmed to 8News that Greenway is an officer with the department.

On December 15, 2015, Officer Greenway was approaching a suspicious vehicle at gas station on Nine Mile Road around 10:30 p.m. When Officer Greenway got close, the car drove off and hit him, authorities said. Officer Greenway then fired shots into the car and hit a female passenger.

Greenway will be in court next on March 28.
