Up & App ‘Em: Buy and sell your stuff simply and get paid to work out

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Most of us know that there are hundreds of apps out there that help us accomplish many things from our phones.

Today, Meteorologist Tim Pandajis showed us some apps that can help you fatten up your pockets.

Remember when if you wanted to sell something, you’d have to take out a classified ad in the newspaper, or have a garage sale? The industry has evolved a lot since then.

OfferUp is an app that’s revolutionizing the way we buy and sell from each other. All you need to do is snap a picture of what you’re looking to get rid of, post a price of what you’d like to get and let the internet do the work. Your item is posted to the feed on the app and interested buyers will shoot you a message in the app with an offer. When you accept, they pick up the item and the transaction is done. What if you had monetary motivation to work out? There’s an app for that. GymPact will actually pay you to work out. All you have to do is check in at the gym via GPS location and spend at least 30 minutes there. You make a pact with the app, meaning that if you break it, you pay up to $5 or more per missed work out. Click here to learn more.

You won’t get rich off this app, but hey, who would pass up free money?

Both of these apps are free and will put a little extra cash in your wallet.

This week on Good Morning Richmond, 8News meteorologist Tim Pandajis explores the app world. Tune in at 5:30 a.m. through Friday, February 26, or check WRIC.com for the latest installment in the ‘Up and App ‘Em’ series.
