Multiple organizations offering help to Virginia’s tornado victims

RICHMOND (WSLS/WRIC) – Multiple organizations are responding to help tornado victims in Virginia:

God’s Pit Crew will be sending someone Thursday morning to look at the damage in Appomattox and Waverly to see how they can help, and possibly help families rebuild. More information:http://www.godspitcrew.org/

The American Red Cross is currently helping people displaced by storms at the Appomattox County Emergency Shelter. American Red Cross website: http://www.redcross.org/local/va

Gleaning for the World is getting immediate relief for tornado victims in shelters in the Appomattox/Evergreen areas. Thursday morning they were at the command center at Evergreen Baptist Church helping to coordinate relief supplies to police, EMS, firefighters and volunteers helping to clean up. Anyone needing assistance in the vicinity of Waverly because of yesterday’s storm, or who would like to volunteer to help, or wants to provide donations can contact the Sussex County Housing Office at 804-834-1302. Anyone who wants to donate to tornado victims in Waverly can call 804-691-2582.
