This weekend, RVA is getting out the red carpet.  It’s time for the Oscars and one local theater is giving you the opportunity to view it on the big screen.

Below is a list of events you can enjoy while you wait for the big night.

Hollywood’s Big Night at CinéBistro

Instead of staying at home to watch the Oscars, head to CinéBistro for a night with the stars.  Hollywood’s Big Night viewing party is your chance to enjoy the show just like an A-Lister.  Drink champagne and munch on hors d’oeuvres as you cheer on your favorite Hollywood stars.

Maybe Leonardo DiCaprio will win an Oscar.

You must be 21 or older with proper ID for admission.

Home of Distinction Open House

Come view a beautiful home for a great cause.  Tour a new 4,435-square-foot home, showcased as part of WRIC-TV8’s Home of Distinction, to benefit Noah’s Children.  The home will feature the latest building products and design trends.

Noah’s Children is a local Richmond charity that provides hospice care and palliative care to infants and children, diagnosed with life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses.

Free shuttle service will be available.

  • When:  February 26 – March 6:  Fridays and Saturdays, from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Sundays, from Noon – 5:00 p.m.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

One of the most popular musical is coming to Richmond. Tim Rice & Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ”Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” is coming to the Altria Theater, for three performances only. See the story of Joseph, his eleven brothers and his multi-colored coat.  Sing along with the cast as they preform song like “Go Go Go Joseph,” “Any Dream Will Do” and “Close Every Door.”

  • When:  Friday February 26, at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, February 27, at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
  • Where:  Altria Theater, 6 N Laurel St, Richmond, VA 23220
  • Cost: $35-$70

RVA Polar Plunge Fest

Come show off your best cannonball at the RVA Plunge Winter Fest.  Put a team together and raise $100 for Special Olympics Virginia.  Come in a swimsuit or wear your zaniest costume and brave the freezing temperatures.  Guest will get a chance to win prizes and participate in the first RVA Plunge Scavenger Hunt.

  • When:  Saturday, February 27, from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Where:  The Shops At Willow Lawn, 1601 Willow Lawn Dr, Richmond, VA 23230
  • Cost: $100 to participate in the plunge
