Students line up Friday morning at “Wade’s World” ahead of VCU vs. UR game

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Students are up early this Friday lining up outside the Siegel Center ahead of tonight’s big basketball game: Virginia Commonwealth University versus the University of Richmond.

The Rams will play the Spiders at 7 p.m. Last time the two teams faced off at the Siegel Center on January 31, the Spiders came out with a win.

As students get pumped up for the big game, a tent city has sprung up at the corner of Harrison and Broad Streets, where eager Rams fans are camping out to be the first to enter the building for the match up with crosstown rival Richmond. This camp is different than those of past years, though: “Wade’s World” has replaced “Shakaville.”

The temporary town’s namesake, first-year VCU Head Coach Will Wade, came by Thursday night with his players to say thank you and drop off some hot pizza on a cold night.
