RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – Police are investigating an accident that claimed the life of a man on Warwick Road just after 5 p.m. Sunday night. Three others are injured.
“A vehicle traveling westbound on Clarkson through the intersection while the northbound vehicle on Warwick went through the intersection as well. They had the right of way,” said Richmond Police Public Affairs Representative, James Mercante.
Investigators are assessing the damage to determine the cause of the accident.
“They will be taking their measurements and looking at the damage trying to see exactly what occurred,” said Mercante.
One man has died and another is in critical condition.
“We have a male in the sedan who was pronounced dead at the scene. We have another occupant of the sedan who was transported to a local hospital with injuries that are considered life-threatening,” explained Mercante.
According to officials, the driver and passenger of the SUV have non-life threatening injuries.
Neighbors are in an uproar – telling us accidents happen here all the time.
“On Wednesday. Wednesday evening. I had an accident,” said Lakisha Williams.
As officials were working the first crash another accident happened moments later and only a few feet away.
“When you see the flashing lights, the fire department out here, and the police department out here, please slow down. Let’s give our public safety folks a chance to work the investigation. Unfortunately, you see a secondary accident that occurred,” said Mercante.
Residents say the feel unsafe because of the frequent accidents.
The man who died in the crash hasn’t been identified.
