RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A child’s smile can light up any room, and today the teeth of students at 17 Richmond City Schools feel as good as they look.
On Friday, 180 area dentists, dental assistants, hygienists and more volunteered their time for the 15th annual Give Kids a Smile Day at the ACCA Shriners’ Temple of Bellevue Avenue.
Studies show teeth pain during childhood can lead to lost sleep, missed school and bad experiences in a dental chair. Since Give Kids a Smile Day started in Richmond, it has been able to catch problems before they get worse and provide children with a lesson in good oral hygiene while they have fun.
At today’s event, the Tooth Fairy made her rounds, there was a puppet show and more activities for the children. They also took home good hygiene kits to practice what they learned at today’s event.
