Va. Union football releases 2016 schedule

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Virginia Union football returns to historic Hovey Field Saturday, September 3rd to begin their journey to back-to-back NCAA Div. II playoff berths.

The school released the 2016 schedule for the Black Panthers Friday evening.

Va. Union, led by third year head coach Mark James, will host their home opener against LIU-Post on Sept. 3rd at 1:00 p.m. before heading into a three week road gauntlet to finish the first month of football.

The Panthers then return home to face St. Augustine’s on Saturday, October 1st at 1:00 p.m. followed by homecoming weekend against Lincoln (PA) October 8th at 1:00 p.m.

The Battle of I-95 will take place this year at Hovey Field against rival Virginia State on Saturday, November 5th at 1:00 p.m. Last season, the Panthers rallied to overcome the Trojans in an instant classic, 28-27.

The CIAA Championship will be November 12th in Raleigh, N.C. between the North and South Division champions.
