Police arrest Richmond man in connection to fatal night club shooting

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Detectives have charged a Richmond man in connection with a fatal shooting Monday morning at the Illusions night club.

27-year-old Trevell A. Harvey, of the 2400 block of 3rd Avenue, was arrested Tuesday morning in a joint effort by Henrico County Police and the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force. He was taken into custody without incident and charged with use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Police say that around 1:00 a.m. Monday, shots were fired inside the club, which is located in the 6300 block of Midlothian Turnpike. Several officers, who were working off-duty there, entered the club and discovered the body of 21-year-old Jerquell Cheatham, of the 700 block of Everett Street. He had been shot.

Officers identified two others who were injured: a male with a gunshot wound, and a female who had been struck by a car in the club parking lot. Both people were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
