Police make arrest in connection to fatal Henrico shooting

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Police arrested a man in connection to a fatal Henrico shooting on Wednesday.

According to police, officers responded to a firearm violation in the 2700 block of Byron Street around 1:20 p.m Wednesday. Once on scene, authorities found an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim, who police identified as 20-year-old Dejon Jermaine Wagstaff, was transported to VCU Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Shortly after the shooting, officers discovered an involved vehicle based upon info witnesses provided. When police attempted to stop the vehicle, two people inside fled on foot. The driver, Steven Emanuel Parson, was taken into custody. He’s charged with conspiracy to commit murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Detectives believe there is an additional individual involved in the incident that has not been identified.
