CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Chesterfield Police arrested three suspects in relation to the murder of Harshad V. Patel on Monday, Jan. 11. Police continue to seek a fourth suspect.
At about 10:30 p.m. on Monday, police responded to The Marketplace convenience store at 6811 Walmsley Boulevard and found Patel, 55, unconscious. Patel, of the 3400 block of Morningmist Circle in Chesterfield, was transported to the hospital where he later died of an apparent gunshot wound.
Surveillance cameras at the store captured images of four male suspects, and images of one of the suspects were released to the media. Tips from the community helped police identify that suspect as Thomas L. Jennings III, 18. Jennings turned himself into police late on Wednesday, Jan. 13.
Jennings, of the 6900 block of Able Road, has been arrested and charged with principle in the second degree to murder in the second degree, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, attempted robbery, and conspiracy to commit robbery in relation to the incident. He is currently being held at the Chesterfield County Jail without bond.
Through investigation, detectives identified two additional suspects: Trayvon M. Wilhite, 19, of the 4200 block of Cedardale Lane, and a 14-year-old male.
