Kelley and her husband Aaron, had tried for three years to have a baby. After their third miscarriage, Thompson, 53, volunteered to be the surrogate for her daughter and son-in-law, according to the Medical Center of Plano. Because she was seven years past menopause, she then went through a series of medical treatments so her body could carry a baby again.

Then, on Wednesday, Thompson gave birth to a 6 pound 11 oz. girl named Kelcey. Grandmother, mother and baby are all doing well.

“It is such a blessing that I can do this for my daughter,” Thompson told the Medical Center of Plano.
