CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Eight people have been displaced after a fire broke out at a home in Chesterfield County Thursday afternoon.
The fire occurred at 15700 Tinsberry Place. Before fire officials arrived on scene, a citizen and a county police officer, with the two from two other police officers, entered the home and rescued an adult male who was confined to a wheelchair from the second floor. The victim was transported to the hospital with minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery. All other occupants had evacuated the home without injury.
It took fire crews roughly 30 minutes to mark the fire under control.
Investigators have determined the fire was caused accidentally by a juvenile who was playing with a lighter and lit a mattress. No charges will be filed.
