RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — December 2015 will go down in the record books as the warmest, ever. That says a lot considering the record we are smashing has been held for over 125 years!
It was also a very wet month, the rainfall we received this month will put December 2015 in the books also as one of the top 10 wettest. All these records being broken, will 2016 hold more of the same? It’s possible, but it is looking like at least the first several days of the new year will be quiet and seasonable, what a change! This morning you’re waking up to lingering clouds which will be stubborn to work their way out of here, also an isolated shower can’t be ruled out at least through the first half of the day. Also, be aware of patchy dense fog. The clouds eventually erode and by tonight as you’re getting ready to ring in the New Year we will see clearing skies and falling temperatures, bottoming out in the upper 30s.
New Year’s Day looks beautiful, mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid to upper 50s.
The weekend ahead looks just as nice with sunshine and temperatures hovering around 50.
No major storms headed our way at least in the next 5 days, the next potential weather maker takes aim at us by late next week. Have a great day and a wonderful new year!
