RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Good Monday evening everyone! What a difference from yesterday! We topped out in the mid-70s on Sunday and today almost everyone stayed in the 40s!
The reason? Well, we are still dealing with a meandering front that dropped through the area last night and is currently situated to our south. Winds have switched up to out of the northeast locking in cooler temperatures. Just as quickly as temperatures dropped they will rebound back into the 70s in the next 24 hours.
That same front will lift back north as a warm front and temperatures will sky rocket. We will also be dealing with rain, steady to heavy at times especially during the day tomorrow. A lull in the rain will develop tomorrow afternoon and evening before another wave of low pressure heads our way with more rain on the way for Wednesday.
That will be the final round of wet weather because by the later part of the day on New Year’s Eve skies will begin to clear and temperatures will also begin to drop. Heading into the New Year will bring a return to much more seasonable weather to the region.
