UVA taps former BYU coach to lead football program

CHARLOTTTESVILLE, Va. (WRIC) — The University of Virginia has hired Bronco Mendenhall as the 40th head football coach in program history.

Mendehall has been the head coach at Bringham Young University for the past 11 seasons. This past season he led the Cougars to a 9-3 season as an independent. BYU will appear in the Las Vegas Bowl later this month, a game that will be televised on 8News.

Mendenall will be officially introduced as UVA’s new coach during a 10 a.m. press conference on Monday.
