Sunshine to return Thursday after two more days of rain

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Cold showers continue to push east through the area. We’ll see rain continue overnight, with a low of 42. Temperatures will stay fairly steady, and actually warm up slowly overnight.

By tomorrow morning, another push of steady rain will be here just in time for the Tuesday morning commute. We’ll start the day in the mid to upper 40s, with a high of 54 degrees. A warm front lifts through the area bringing us a brief break from the rain in the afternoon with lighter, more showery rain in the afternoon.

The cold front arrives on Wednesday bringing the last push of rain into central Virginia. Temperatures will top out at 63 in Richmond, with rain tapering off in the evening.

The sunshine FINALLY returns on Thursday with sunny skies and highs in the lower 50s. Friday for the Grand Illumination really couldn’t look better. We’ll see sunny skies and 57 degrees in the afternoon, and we’ll be in the upper 40s around 6pm for the lighting, and the low 40s around 8pm when many are heading home. Definitely jacket worthy, but not freezing for the event. Temperatures continue to drop Friday night to a low of 34. Next weekend also looks sunny and dry, with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s.
