Local boy turns superhero for a day to ‘save’ Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An evil villain descended on Indianapolis Friday, threatening to take toys bound for Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health.

It was the perfect job for Turbo Tatin.

The 6-year-old Muncie boy dreamed of becoming a superhero to save Indianapolis and pass out toys to other children at Riley. On Friday, Make-A-Wish turned Tatin’s dreams into a thrilling day-long adventure.

Tatin, who has a congenital liver disorder, transformed into Turbo Tatin while visiting the Indianapolis Colts practice facility. He rescued team mascot Blue from the bad guys, scored a touchdown and the players got a chance to meet a real-life superhero.

From there, his mission took him to Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where IndyCar driver Josef Newgarden partnered with him to fight crime — and drive cool cars.
Turbo Tatin finished his day at Riley, where he saved his doctor and nurse before giving toys to children.
Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard declared Friday to be Turbo Tatin Day.
