RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A judge has dismissed a $10.7 million dollar defamation lawsuit against Richmond’s City Auditor Dalal Umesh.
Former City Administrator Sharon Judkins filed the suit against Umesh after a rocky departure from City Hall.
The Auditor had exposed the City’s former CAO, Byron Marshall, attempted to restore more than 800 hours of sick leave for Judkins, a move that would have cost the City nearly $400,000.
8News spoke with Umesh and he says, “I was confident all along that this lawsuit was without merit. Our office exists to identify waste and abuse. I think this shows the judge is confident in our beliefs.”
The lawsuit against the City of Richmond still stands.
