Petersburg joining the East Coast Basketball League

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) —  Starting in 2016 the city of Petersburg, Virginia will be joining minor league basketball as part of the East Coast Basketball League. On Wednesday, November 11 at 1 P.M.  a conference will be held to announce the team, introduce the couch and announce when there will be open tryouts.

The team will be known as the Petersburg Revolution.

“We are honored to become a member of the premier basketball minor league in the Southeast” owner Bill Slaughter said in a press release. “The Revolution hopes to become a cornerstone of inspiration and pride to the Tri-City Area.

“In addition to providing a quality team on the court, we look forward to becoming part of the community, being Ambassadors for our sport, our league, and home. We would like to thank the Board of Directors of the East Coast Basketball League for this amazing opportunity they are afforded us.”

Their home games will be played at Richard Bland College. 8News sports anchors Chip Brierre and Mitch Carr will be at the conference and bring updates as they become available.

The Revolution is a subsidiary of Pegasus Sports, LLC. Pegasus Sports, LLC is an event and sports marketing company owned by Bill and Teri Slaughter of the Tri-City Area.
